The first place we will visit is the Vatican Museums, where our primary aim is to see and experience the museums' most famous objects of art. We'll stop by the octagonal courtyard which holds some of the greatest statues in the world and then take a walk through the many halls of the museum to reach the Raphael Rooms and the Sistine Chapel. After a detailed explanation of the beautiful frescoes in these rooms by some of the greatest artists of the Renaissance, we'll exit the museums and take a look at the world's largest basilica. Walking through St. Peter's you'll see the highlights of this enormous church and hear many anecdotes of popes, saints, and artists. This should take about 3 hours , finishing in time for lunch. Our guides have many good suggestions for restaurants in the area.

After the lunch break it will be time to see the great ancient symbol of Rome, the Colosseum , and to learn about the games , the gladiators and the emperors that animated this structure more than 2 millennia ago . Then it's off to the ancient city center of Rome, the Great Roman Forum , a beautiful and mysterious place where in front of ancient temples and basilicas we will recount to you the fascinating lives of famous men from Cicero and Julius Ceasar's time. You will learn about the growth and the fall of the biggest empire of the ancient time as well as about the ideas, the religions, and the multiethnic societies they developed and that are still the basis of our common western world.

Then we will take a stroll around some of the most beautiful squares of the Renaissance and Baroque time. We can admire the fantastic fountains at the heart of these picturesque squares and enjoy their magical atmosphere. We will take you through some of the famous fountains and piazzas of the city, such as the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona, while you learn about famous artists and popes of the time. This is a wonderful time to take a stroll because Rome has cooled off from the heat of the sun and the temperature is quite refreshing. This 1 day tour should be enough to give you a good taste of this magnificent city, and to cover the main tourist attractions.
