One of the great masterpieces of Baroque urban design, discover how the dazzling sweep of the Spanish Steps has been a meeting place for artists and poets, lovers and layabouts for nearly three centuries - and how there’s nothing really Spanish about them. Following in the footsteps of the grand tourists of centuries past, we’ll also be beating a trail to the nearby Trevi fountain - an extraordinary masterpiece of Baroque sculpture where the dramatic power of water takes centre stage. Learn all about the fascinating history of the fountain, and mentally toss in your coin to make sure we’ll be seeing you in the Eternal City in person very soon!
Hi, I’m Thomas. A native of Florida, I studied History in the United States and France, Art History in France and Italy, and Archaeology in Italy. I am one of four brothers, one of many Tolkien fans, and one of very few native English-speaking licensed tour guides in Rome, where I have lived and worked with Through Eternity Tours since 2006. My particular interests are medieval history, Baroque painting, pork products, tasty cakes, and full-figured red wines. I speak English, French, Italian, a smattering of Spanish, and a few German swear words.

Trevi Fountain & Spanish Steps
Really great tour. Historical information mixed in with current photos really made the tour enjoyable. Loved Thomas' enthusiasm. Thank you for creating a new avenue for people to travel to Italy during this pandemic!
A guide and tour made for Rome
Thomas is always entertaining, but with this tour he captures the joy of visiting and living in Rome from the Renaissance to the present. He explains not just the art and the public and private spaces, but also the personal experiences of young people from the Elizabethan age, to Byron, Keats, and the Romantics, and into the 20th century when travel became available for the masses (people like us!). Thomas brings back the golden age of travel but makes it relevant to a trip today, using it as a backdrop to give us a great perspective of what to see, why we should see it, where and what to eat, and simply how to enjoy the city.
